1975

Details

Previous to our incorporation in 2003, our founding Director Steven Pesticcio offered his specialized services to many high profile engineering projects across the UK. Completing his apprenticeship from 1975-1979 at Prouds Engineering Ltd located in Cardiff Docklands, Steve progressed to work on various national & international projects. In 1979 he moved to Libya to work as a coded welder situation on a gas plant. From here, in 1980 Steve moved to Holland offering his services as a coded welder on pressure vessels.

1981

Details

Moving back closer to home, in 1981 Steve was situated Scotland as a coded pipe welder on onshore rigs for a year, which he followed with working in the petrochemical industry on various projects from 1981-1987.

1987

Details

From 1987-1990, Steve was employed by John Laing as a coded procedure welder for the re-strengthening project on the first Severn Bridge. A vital project for engineering within the UK, assisting the trade access between England & Wales until the second Severn Bridge was built in 1992.

1991

Details

Continuing his employment by John Laing, Steve moved to Kent in 1991 where he again was employed as coded procedure welder on the Channel Tunnel. The Channel Tunnel is considered to be one of the greatest engineering feats of the 20th century due to its coordination and precision that it was executed in.

1994

Details

Following the completion of the Channel Tunnel in 1994, Steve moved back home to Cardiff where he worked on various engineering contracts both on site and factory based.

2003

Details

In 2003, Steve founded the company Specialist Site Services Ltd operating out of a small unit on Lamby Way turned into an engineering workshop. From here Steve supplied on site welding services and small repairs to local engineering facilities such as Allied Steel and Wire, now known as Celsa Manufacturing. By providing a high quality product and service, it was clear that Specialist Site Services required a larger workshop to keep up with the demands of its growing client base and project size.

2005

Details

In 2005 Specialist Site Services moved from its current workshop to a nearby unit which was double the size of its predecessor. After 3 years at the new location and the continued growth of Specialist Site Services, Steve required an even larger facility but equipped with gantry cranes to assist with the maneuvering of larger scale projects that were being undertaken.

2009

Details

In 2009, Specialist Site Services moved to our current manufacturing facility which at the time was equipped with 2 overhead gantry cranes. Various contracts such as the crane maintenance contract at Celsa manufacturing assisted SSS in the early stages of our growth and boosted our reputation within the engineering industry.

2019

Details

In 2019, we extended our premises to include an additional two thirds manufacturing space, a 2-story office block and a third gantry crane. In the years to follow, we are again on the hunt for a larger manufacturing facility in order to process larger scale projects.

2024

Details

From our incorporation, Specialist Site Services has since developed into SSS Engineering Services Ltd. From undertaking small, on-site welding repair jobs in the early stages of our growth to now installing 100t plus structural steel projects across the UK. We have the ability to fabricate and install structural steel projects designed in our very own drawing office using the latest Tekla software. Our highly skilled workforce has the ability to deal with complex and demanding projects at both fabrication and erection stage. Steve has developed the company from a small workshop into what we are today with the exciting prospect of future growth into other sectors of engineering services currently on the horizon.
